Graphite Powder Additive

WEST SYSTEM® Graphite Powder is a premium, pure graphite additive designed to be mixed with WEST SYSTEM epoxy to create a tough, low-friction, abrasion-resistant coating. Ideal for marine applications, it produces a durable black finish that resists scuffing and reduces surface friction.

While widely recognised throughout the marine industry, Graphite Powder is also used across engineering, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automotive, transport, agricultural, and composite fabrication. It is an excellent choice wherever a hard-wearing, low-friction epoxy coating or durable bearing surface is required.

When added to mixed epoxy at up to 10% by volume, Graphite Powder creates a hard-wearing coating commonly used on rudders, centreboards, daggerboards, and the hulls of dry-sailed racing yachts. It is also widely used in teak deck construction to replicate the appearance of traditional black caulking seams while helping protect the epoxy from UV exposure.

Please note: Graphite Powder is not an antifouling additive and does not prevent marine growth.

Mixing Instructions

• Mix your WEST SYSTEM resin and hardener first.
• Add Graphite Powder gradually until the desired consistency is achieved.
• Use up to 10% Graphite Powder by volume for optimum performance.
• Apply as you would standard epoxy.

Note: This additive is designed to improve wear resistance and reduce friction. It does not provide antifouling protection.
